Family in New England!! Yay!!!

Jason's sister Juli and her husband Josh recently moved to Boston. That means we have family less than 24 hours away. Actually it's only about 4 hours. We couldn't be happier.

They came to visit us this weekend because Josh has never been to New York City. It was really rainy their first day here but we made the best of it. I had to work overtime on Saturday morning so they did the Staten Island Ferry and then met up with me after lunch. We stood in line for theater tickets and got a little wet in the rain. We got 50% off tickets to "The Little Mermaid". Juli has been dying to see it since she was here last fall and I worked on the costumes and still hadn't been able to see it. Then we walked down the block to meet Jason at a Starbucks to dry off and refresh a bit.

And to Carmine's for dinner after that. I forgot to take off my close-up lens before the day began so all of my pictures are a little weird. I can't zoom in or out and the focus can be a little weird. Sorry!

After the show (which was great!!) we went for a bite of cheesecake at Junior's. We sat outside and the wind was blowing like crazy (we had gotten the Hurricane Hanna leftovers that afternoon). Juli and I could barely eat our dessert because our hair was all over the place!

Jason was loving it of course.

And what trip to New York City is complete without a late night stroll through Times Square to see all the bright lights?! Jason and I call it the happiest place on earth...except when we're in a hurry and all there seem to be are tourists who are trying to get in our way.

I've started taking headshots (kind of a new side business) and this is the lens I use. That's why it takes great shots of people up close.

The next day we went down to one of our favorite brunch places in the village.

On the subway ride, we encountered one of our favorite subway personalities: "guy who looks at subway map behind you for uncomfortably long time".

After brunch, we walked through the "oh so chic" west village and got cupcakes at Magnolia Bakery. We enjoyed them in a delightful little park across the street...with lots of pigeons.

Its great to have family so close. We're going to spend Thanksgiving with them in Boston and we're going to see them lots before then!!
