Home again, home again, jiggity jog!

Jason and I are home in Arkansas for 6 weeks for a job that Jason got at the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre. He's musically directing "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and he's having a great time! So the blogging purposes have switched. For the next 6 weeks, we will blog for the benefit of our New York family, as our Arkansas family is all around us!

Last weekend, we traveled up to Fayetteville for cousin Ben's 3rd birthday. The weather was "iffy" all weekend. These are some shots of the clouds rolling around in the hills as we came up the mountain.

I forget how easy it is to watch the weather down here. There aren't any skyscrapers to get in the way!

The clouds look close enough to touch...

Ben had a pirate party! What a cutie!
He was so great all weekend with Sam. He seemed so concerned when Sam would cry and he would ask what was wrong.
And Aunt Emily was such a sport letting us try out all of the new toys she has for baby Noel (coming to a Burrow near you in June!)

Gran and Grandad got Ben his very own "ipad." His new Ixl was a hit! He can color, and read stories, and play games, and so much more!!
And the piece de resistance of the weekend.....a power wheels john deere tractor!!
I was so impressed at how well he drove this thing! An expert, really...

Samuel did great! He loved being outdoors (another thing that is quite different than in New York.) We have parks, of course- but it takes a little travel to get to them. Here, they're right outside in your backyard!!
It was such a great weekend with family! We loved every minute.

3 months!

Last week, I took Samuel to the botanical gardens in Brooklyn. They have a cherry blossom orchard and the blooms were at their peak. I've been wanting to go since we moved to New York I finally did!

The website for the gardens has a map that shows you when the blooms are at their peak. I saw that all of the trees were at their peak bloom, so I panicked and thought we HAVE TO get out there! I was right...beautiful!
If we had waited one more week, the blooms would have been gone. I think Samuel was a little over the whole thing though.
The botanical gardens are great. And there was plenty to see besides the cherry blossoms.

Sam "standing" in a tree. I'm excited for when he can do this without helpful hands from behind...

I can't believe it has only been 3 months since Samuel came into the world. I honestly feel like we've had him for a few years now! It's a comfort really. Any time I feel like "I should really have this figured out by now!!" I just step back and say "Wait...it's only been 3 months!!"
Jason loves when I take pictures of Sam, Joe, and Alice. He thinks they look like little hams in a deli case. Pretty darn cute hams I say!
This is Joe and his mom, Amy.
We went to Boston for Mother's Day weekend to see Uncle Josh and Aunt Juli. We had an awesome time, even though the weather was a little yucky. It was so nice to get out of the city for a little while; I felt like we were gone for 3 or 4 days when we were really gone for less than 2.

We love having Juli and Josh so close. We even drove! We rented our first zipcar for the trip! We got a Prius and while I was happy driving such an environmentally friendly car, I was so uncomfortable! It was TEENY TINY!! We laughed the whole time because of how small the car was and how huge we felt being in it!!

Josh and Juli took us to a lovely Mother's Day brunch where Sam just couldn't resist dipping into the Sangria.

Happy Mother's Day! My 1st!

And these are just a few pictures I grabbed during some of his happier times last week.

He's starting to look like such a little boy!!!

Catching up

Hello all!!! Sorry we've been a little M.I.A. lately. No excuses really. Just seasons changing and life adjusting. I'm getting my running started again (that marathon isn't going to run itself, now is it?!?!) and I've started working again. I'm doing 2 days a week of day work at a new Broadway show called "Baby, It's You." It's a show about the girl group "The Shirelles"---very jukebox musical---very fun!

And as always....baby Sam continues to grow...

I can't express how much more fun he is now that he can recognize Jason and me and smile at the sound of our voices and the sight of our faces. As soon as he can laugh, it's all over. I will be acting like a complete fool. I am prepared do anything to make him laugh...ANYTHING!!
A few weeks ago, we went to a wedding shower for our friends Drew and Danis. We met Drew and Danis in college during our last year while we were doing "Sweeney Todd."
The shower was plenty of fun and it's always nice to see a bunch of our friends from Arkansas. We played a few shower games and had a lovely time! Samuel inspired a nap from Jason (not really, just posed for the picture)...

and continued sleeping through the party. What an awesome New York baby. He sleeps better with loud noises!
In January, Jason and I took a childbirth class. We were both a little skeptical before the first session but it ended up being an amazing experience. It was a very intimate group; there were only 3 couples in the class. We all had a great time getting to know each other and learning about the intense experience we were all about to go through. By the end of the 3 sessions, we were all joking about keeping in touch and having reunions once we all had our babies. I was due first on Feb.1, followed by Amy on Feb. 23, and Leslie on April 2.

We have now all had our babies and are still keeping in touch and meeting up to support each other and talk and laugh and commiserate. The other day, we all met up at Leslie's apartment to meet the newest addition to our club...Baby Alice

And here's Amy's little boy, Joseph. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why I couldn't get this photo to rotate. I tried 3 times!!

And of course, little boy Burrow.

And all 3 together!
I'm so excited to have other new moms to talk to and be friends with. I never thought that I would really bond with women in this way but I really enjoy their company and hope we can stay in each others lives. Can't you see these two being buds later?????

Gosh I hope his eyes stay this color!!

Samuel has reached the 13 pound mark which means we can start using our Baby Bjorn carrier!! We took it for a test run on Easter and I think he loves it! He falls asleep in it just as easy as my sling.

After church, we met up with some friends for Easter brunch where Sam received his first bunny ears!
And of course, an Easter portrait!
I've been really excited about getting to watch Samuel listen to Jason play and sing and the other night, I got my first taste.
Here he is playing his first note EVER!! The first of many.
Jason sang and played with him for a good 30 minutes and he just smiled up at him and tried to sing along a little. He loved it! And it warmed my heart a little...well a lot!
